L.La Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Informática Educativa (ADIE) es la Sociedad Científica de España formada por personas de la academia, profesorado no universitario, organizaciones y grupos de investigación interesados en el uso de las tecnologías para el aprendizaje. Creada en 1989, ADIE se organiza, fundamentalmente, a través de los grupos de investigación que a nivel nacional desarrollan las líneas relacionadas con la informática educativa en su sentido más amplio, aunque también admite socios individuales de ámbito nacional e internacional. ADIE se encuentra integrada en la Sociedad Científica de Informática de España (SCIE) y en la Confederación de Sociedades Científicas de España (COSCE). Anualmente, desde 1999, en colaboración con el capítulo portugués de Informática Educativa, se organiza el Simposio Internacional de Informática Educativa (SIIE). Á.; Hernández-García, Á.La herramienta ChatGPT, basada en el modelo GPT-3 desarrollado por OpenAI, ya se utiliza por estudiantes de grados de ingeniería como herramienta de apoyo en su proceso de aprendizaje. En este contexto, las implicaciones negativas que presenta el uso de esta herramienta son diversas: dependencia tecnológica, obstaculización del saber y conocer práctico, error en las respuestas, problemas éticos o incluso problemas legales. El uso de esta herramienta sin que los estu-diantes hayan recibido formación se considera como problema a investigar. El objetivo es entender en profundidad el contexto tecnológico de la herramien-ta, cómo se utiliza actualmente entre los estudiantes de ingeniería de un conjunto de universidades priva-das y públicas, y su impacto en la educación universi-taria. Este artículo es un trabajo en desarrollo donde se presenta el contexto del estudio, la metodología de investigación y unos primeros resultados. Se conduce una encuesta cualitativa-exploratoria con una muestra de más de 360 estudiantes de grados de ingeniería matriculados en diferentes cursos. Se utiliza una estratificación aleatoria para asegurar que la muestra sea representativa de la población. Los resultados sugieren que el modelo GPT-3 puede ser utilizado como una herramienta beneficiosa para los estudian-tes de grados de ingeniería.Item A systematic mapping about simulators and remote laboratories using hardware in the loop and robotic: Developing STEM/STEAM skills in pre-university education(IEEE, 2021-09-23) Mena Mamani, N.; García-Peñalvo, F. Á.; Gonçalves, J.In recent years and after the strong impact of the last global health emergency (COVID-19) information and communication technologies have had a great impact on society but particular in the teaching-learning process. Education has been impacted at all its levels. Therefore, education models have been to be adapted to this new challenging paradigm by using different tools such as videoconferences, simulations, on-line interactive applications, virtual and remote laboratories, robots, etc. The objective of this work is to elaborate a systematic mapping to know what scientific from its beginning to 2020, identifying the most literature exists regarding simulators, remote and virtual laboratories focused on STEM/STEAM skills development in the educational context. To do so, bibliographical data gathered of four of the most popular and complete electronic databases (ACM, IEEE, Scopus and Web of Science). At the begging we selected 1232 articles after applying the acceptance criteria defined as part of the search and select strategy, we had 61 articles that help us to answer some questions like what are the most popular virtual and remote labs? or what are the current trends and issues of these tools? and the future ones?Item Evaluación de la aplicación de robots y dispositivos físicos para la integración de STEAM y el desarrollo de pensamiento computacional(Servicio de Publicaciones Universidad de Zaragoza, 2021-10-20) Conde, M. J.La sociedad altamente tecnificada actual demanda profesionales que sean capaces de desempeñarse en ella de forma eficiente y conseguir esto es uno de los objetivos que deben perseguir las instituciones educativas. En este sentido el desarrollo de competencias como el pensamiento computacional o habilidades STEAM se hace realmente crítico. Sin embargo, no es suficiente con el planteamiento de un conjunto de actividades, sino que debe evaluarse de manera adecuada hasta que punto se están desarrollando las competencias perseguidas o integrando el STEAM en los itinerarios educativos tradicionales. Este artículo describe la experiencia de evaluación llevada a cabo en el proyecto RoboSTEAM, que mediante el uso de metodologías activas y la aplicación de robots y componentes físicos trata de fomentar la adquisición de las competencias previamente mencionadas. Como conclusiones se observa que el contexto educativo y socioeconómico puede tener influencia en la evaluación, independientemente de que la edad o conocimientos de los estudiantes puedan ser similares.Item Systematic Literature Review of Realistic Simulators Applied in Educational Robotics Context(MDPI, 2021-06-13) Camargo, C.; Gonçalves, J.; Conde, M. J.This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) about realistic simulators that can be applied in an educational robotics context. These simulators must include the simulation of actuators and sensors, the ability to simulate robots and their environment. During this systematic review of the literature, 559 articles were extracted from six different databases using the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes, Context (PICOC) method. After the selection process, 50 selected articles were included in this review. Several simulators were found and their features were also analyzed. As a result of this process, four realistic simulators were applied in the review’s referred context for two main reasons. The first reason is that these simulators have high fidelity in the robots’ visual modeling due to the 3D rendering engines and the second reason is because they apply physics engines, allowing the robot’s interaction with the environment.Item Representing Data Visualization Goals and Tasks Through Meta-Modeling to Tailor Information Dashboards(MDPI, 2020-03-30) Vázquez-Ingelmo, A.; García-Peñalvo, F. J.; Therón, R.; Conde, M. Á.Information dashboards are everywhere. They support knowledge discovery in a huge variety of contexts and domains. Although powerful, these tools can be complex, not only for the end-users but also for developers and designers. Information dashboards encode complex datasets into different visual marks to ease knowledge discovery. Choosing a wrong design could compromise the entire dashboard’s effectiveness, selecting the appropriate encoding or configuration for each potential context, user, or data domain is a crucial task. For these reasons, there is a necessity to automatize the recommendation of visualizations and dashboard configurations to deliver tools adapted to their context. Recommendations can be based on different aspects, such as user characteristics, the data domain, or the goals and tasks that will be achieved or carried out through the visualizations. This work presents a dashboard meta-model that abstracts all these factors and the integration of a visualization task taxonomy to account for the different actions that can be performed with information dashboards. This meta-model has been used to design a domain specific language to specify dashboards requirements in a structured way. The ultimate goal is to obtain a dashboard generation pipeline to deliver dashboards adapted to any context, such as the educational context, in which a lot of data are generated, and there are several actors involved (students, teachers, managers, etc.) that would want to reach different insights regarding their learning performance or learning methodologies.Item Extending a dashboard meta-model to account for users’ characteristics and goals for enhancing personalization(CEUR-WS.org, 2019-06-27) Vázquez-Ingelmo, A.; García-Peñalvo, F. J.; Therón, R; Conde, M. Á.Information dashboards are useful tools for exploiting datasets and support decision-making processes. However, these tools are not trivial to design and build. Information dashboards not only involve a set of visualizations and handlers to manage the presented data, but also a set of users that will potentially benefit from the knowledge generated by interacting with the data. It is important to know and understand the requirements of the final users of a dashboard because they will influence the design processes. But several user profiles can be involved, making these processes even more complicated. This paper identifies and discusses why it is essential to include the final users when modeling a dashboard. Through meta-modeling, different characteristics of potential users are structured, thus obtaining a meta-model that dissects not only technical and functional features of a dashboard (from an abstract point of view) but also the different aspects of the final users that will make use of it. By identifying these user characteristics and by arranging them into a meta-model, software engineering paradigms such as model-driven development or software product lines can employ it as an input for generating concrete dashboard products. This approach could be useful for generating Learning Analytics dashboards that take into account the users' motivations, beliefs, and knowledge.Item Using Learning Analytics to Detect Authentic Leadership Characteristics in Engineering Students(2018-05-01) Sein-Echaluce, M. Á.Previous research has shown that teamwork between students underpins the communication interactions among team members, and these interactions are underscored in the work environment, job quality, work outcome and, of course, grades. Analysing the interactions among the members of a team using a learning analytics system allows for a forma-tive evaluation that indicates the progress of each team member and taking remedial actions if appropriate progress has not been made. This paper uses a learning analytics system to study interactions between students and detect the values and attitudes demanded of a leader by society. The results of this analysis are keys for avoiding corruption and wrong practices and can even provide a solution to global intercultural troubles. In this study, a validated questionnaire of authentic leadership was given to 78 team members in a university context; the influence of some values and attitudes on leadership is proved with grades; and a learning analytics system was used to analyse information that could predict a leader’s behaviour during the development of teamwork.Item Improving the information society skills: Is knowledge accessible for all?(2018-07-01) Fonseca, D.; Conde, M. Á.; García-Peñalvo, F. J.The emergence and popularization of information and communications technologies (ICT) is changing modern society and its educational landscape. ICT facilitates individuals’ ability to learn anywhere and at any time. In fact, by using ICT, access to knowledge acquisition is not restricted to formal contexts, such as academic institutions. This position paper reviews the educational contexts in which new learning strategies using ICT have been adapted, by focusing on how users access information and improve their digital skills. Our initial hypothesis is that in technological environments, learners use very specific devices and applications to access information, because content accessibility depends on both the user’s profiles and ICT.
