J.; Vázquez-Ingelmo, A.; García-Holgado, A.; Seoane-Pardo, A. M.The WYRED ecosystem is a technological ecosystem developed as part of WYRED (netWorked Youth Research for Empow-erment in the Digital society), a European Project funded by the Horizon 2020 program. The main aim of the project is to provide a framework for research in which children and young people can express and explore their perspectives and interests concerning digital society. The WYRED ecosystem supports this framework from a technological point of view. The WYRED Platform is one of the main software components of this complex technological solution; it is focused on supporting the social dialogues that take place between children, young people and stakeholders. The ecosystem, and in particular the Platform, are already developed, but it is vital to ensure the acceptance by the final users, the children and young people mainly. This work presents the usability test carried out to evolve the Platform through the System Usability Scale. This usability test allows the identification of the weaknesses of the Platform regarding its characteristics, also allowing the corresponding improvement of the WYRED Platform, and it will serve as a reference for further usability testing.Item An architectural proposal to explore the data of a private community through visual analytic(ACM, 2017-10-18) Durán-Escudero, J.; García-Peñalvo, F. J.; Therón, R.In this document, a proposal is made to study the data that will be generated in the private and anonymous community of the WYRED project, in order to extract knowledge about how their users interact, both between them, and with the platform. To do this, it is started with the creation of a system that will generate a set of test data, as close as possible to the original. With this information and considering the impact of privacy when dealing with the data of the project, a flexible and complete architecture has been proposed for the development of interactive visualizations that will allow to visualize the previously generated data. Finally, a use case is presented where the suitability of the visual analytic is demonstrated to perform analysis of the data of the project and to extract knowledge, in a simple wayItem Children and Young People Today: Initial Insights from the WYRED Project(Grupo GRIAL, 2017-09-25) Griffiths, D.; Kearney, N. A.; García-Peñalvo, F. J.; Seoane-Pardo, A. M.; Cicala, F.; Gojkovic, T.; O’Reilly, M.; Hauptman, A.; Yilmaz, Z.; Ottorino, D.; Zauchner-Studnicka, S.The WYRED project has undertaken a number of activities with children and young people in its first six months of operation. These include the development of manifestos, a questionnaire, Delphi activity, a series of dialogues and a slogan competition, in addition to the development of the online platform that will support the research activity and interaction in the project. The European Commission expressed interest in the initial findings of the project, prior to formal reporting, and this briefing paper responds to that request. It is important to recognise that given the nature of the project, this data is preliminary and fragmentary, compared with the scale of the population of children and young people in Europe. These findings are presented as indicators and weak signals which suggest important lines for further investigation. The paper discusses attitudes and engagement, key themes emerging from the activities, aspects which have surprised project workers, and differences between the concerns of stakeholders and participants. Finally, some reflections are offered on the implications of these initial results of WYRED for other projects and agencies working with children and young people.Item The concept of social policies in Spain(Grupo GRIAL, 2017-05-24) Cruz Afonso, C.On the occasion of the activity “Youth-Friendly Social Policies’ Training course”, linked to the EU Project coordinated by the Van Gobernorate (Turkey) “Youth-friendly Social Policies (YoFSoP)”, students and practitioners from different countries joined the course to learn and discuss about social policies for youth.
