Abstract: This paper presents some evidence that online learning has not differentiated itself significantly from face-to-face learning and that both largely rely on didactic, lecture-centered pedagogy. It then presents as an alternative the use of pedagogies such as dramatic arts pedagogy that aligns nicely with 21st century skills and suggests that there are opportunities for further research on the application of such pedagogies to teach 21st century skills online.
